1. Electrical Engineering Internship - Dynamometer Testing & Modeling Validation
Duration: 6 Months
Time Type: Full Time
Location: Athens, Greece
Start Date: October / November 2024
Tesla is seeking an Intern Electrical Engineer at the last year of their MSc studies (preferably at the conclusion thesis), modeling and measuring electric motor problems with focus on actuators. This person will be working as part of the Tesla motor technology team located in Athens, Greece, towards improving motor modeling accuracy, developing test plans and performing measurements in the dyno lab.
What You'll Do
• Develop new and enhance existing motor characterization dyno tests to derive motor equivalent model parameters, loss maps to train the model
• Perform dyno characterization tests to evaluate the impact of new materials in motor/system performance and efficiency.
• Write experiment sequence code.
• Write simulation code for testing modeling functions in an isolated way for comparison with experimental results
• Archive experimental results to respective databases.
What You'll Bring
• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering
• Fluency in English
• Strong mathematical and physics background
• Excellent knowledge of electrical machines theory
• Matlab programming
• Experience in conducting electric/thermal/mechanical/acoustic measurements with high accuracy equipment (power analyzer, oscilloscope etc.)
• Experience with dynamometer layout and Veristand

2. Mechanical Engineering Internship - Machine Shop Operations & Prototyping
Location: Athens, Greece

We're now seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern, assisting in prototyping of various components. This person will be working as part of the Tesla motor technology team located in Athens, Greece.
What You'll Do
• Perform and program CNC milling and LASER cutting operations
• Gain hands-on experience in prototyping
• Design fixtures and equipment
• Collaborate with design engineers to gain an in-depth understanding of the design intend and independently work towards the • most effective solution
• Manage material and tooling inventor
What You'll Bring
• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong technical background.
• Proficient in CAD/CAM.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Experience in drafting engineering drawings and conducting tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

3. Electrical Engineering Internship - Multi-Objective Optimization of Electric Motors
Duration: 6 months

Tesla’s Motor Design team drives multi-physics optimization activities for the electric motors of all production vehicles. Electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical aspects of motor design and production-related constraints are considered within advanced multi-objective optimization problems aiming to maximize performance and efficiency and minimize cost.
We are seeking an Intern Electrical Engineer at the last year of their MSc studies (preferably at the conclusion thesis) to work as part of the Tesla motor technology team located in Athens, Greece. As an intern in the motor design team, you will work with modeling and optimization of traction motors considering real EV specifications. You will be challenged with complex optimization problems, involving multiple and conflicting criteria, and decision-making, considering optimal design trade-offs.
What You'll Do
• Responsible for developing advanced Matlab functions to model motor performance.
• Develop new and enhance existing motor system optimization functions based on multiple criteria.
• Perform coupled electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical performance optimization.
• Process big data, select the most compelling candidates and visualize the results.
• Gain experience with numerical optimization and visualization of multi-objective tradeoffs.
• Develop solid understanding of electrical machine design and identify the impact of key design and operating parameters.
What You'll Bring
• Currenty pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or similair field.
• Fluency in English.
• Strong mathematical and physics background.
• Strong Matlab programming skills.
• Understanding of optimization fundamentals.
• Good understanding of electromagnetics and electric circuits.
• Experience analyzing electric motors using Finite Element Method.
• Good understanding of thermal and mechanical modeling.
• Eligible to work on-site in Athens, Greece, Monday-Friday
